Welcome to WSOMSWSOMS is a voluntary partnership of dental professionals working together to improve the quality of oral and maxillofacial surgery services in the community. It is the belief of the Society that professional, political, social and economic exchange between states of the Sixth District of the AAOMS will result in a unity of voice which will enhance our effectiveness in our community and at the national level. WSOMS provides high-caliber continuing education, meaningful state advocacy, and valuable networking across its nine component states—ensuring members can voice collective needs and concerns and maintain a level playing field with other health professions. This mission is especially important for surgeons in states with few members or no association at all, because we are stronger when we collaborate across state lines. At only $50 per year, WSOMS membership is a remarkable value and helps expand advocacy, education, and representation throughout the West. Our plan is to strengthen the organization to better support members. Short term goals include restructuring and updating the bylaws as well as building the capacity to offer a standalone annual program that rivals those of other regional societies. We invite you to attend the WSOMS Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with the AAOMS District VI Caucus on Saturday, August 1, in Las Vegas. The meeting will take place at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine and will be an excellent opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the Western states while supporting the shared work of our District. This year, we plan to begin with continuing education in the morning, followed shortly thereafter by the business portion of the caucus. We encourage everyone to stay for a reception hosted by Western Society shortly after the caucus which will be an informal setting to continue the conversation, expand your professional network, and strengthen our unity of voice. We hope to see you there. Normund K. Auzins DDS More About our Board |

Why Join WSOMSThe WSOMS doesn’t replicate what state and national organizations already provide. We offer something unique and necessary: NetworkingMembers have the opportunity to meet oral and maxillofacial surgeons throughout the nine western states through meetings, networking events, conferences, and more. It provides a great opportunity to gain confidence in district-wide and national recommendations for patients. Continuing EducationWe offer superior quality programs and presentations to continue our professional development virtually and in-person. National RecognitionBeing a part of an association with nine member states and a thousand+ members lends a presence on a national level with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). This is especially important for states with smaller organizations to ensure their concerns are heard. There is power in numbers. We get things done. Legislative PresenceWSOMS District VI is a dynamic and influential legislative presence. Time and time again, this authority has proved absolutely critical in warding off threats to the interests of our professions within the nine member states. |
