Trustee Report Greetings from your AAOMS District VI Trustee:HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope y’all had a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and just a great Holiday season. Now, it’s back to work ... Click here to read our January report As we begin 2025, I am well into my 4th year as your AAOMS District VI Trustee. I continue to be humbled and extremely grateful for the confidence you all have shown by electing me, through your Delegates, to this important position. Given that our District VI Delegates once again later this year provide me with the opportunity to serve, I will continue to represent all your interests at the AAOMS Board level for another final two years, to the best of my ability. The AAOMS has had a very productive 2024 with president Dr. Mark A. Egbert at the helm. I am not simply giving “expected accolades”; Mark has been a great leader and will remain an important member of our Executive Committee, as our Immediate Past President for 2025. When he does ultimately leave, we will greatly miss his wisdom and incite. Western members have always provided important contributions and guidance to our specialty. Mark is just one example - being from Washington State and a past WSOMS President. Our Western collective voices are extremely important, and our exceptional state and regional leadership is recognized by the AAOMS. Reviewing the 2025 educational schedule, I noted numerous opportunities for learning and participation in our specialty. I have listed a few of the highlights below. Washington DC *CALAOMS / WSOMS Joint Anesthesia Meeting *April 26-27, 2025. Hayes Mansion, San Jose, CA AAOMS Educational Weekend May 3-4, 2025. Chandler, AZ 107th Annual Meeting and Scientific Session September 15-20, 2025. Washington DC District VI Summer Caucus August 9, 2025. UNLV, Las Vegas, NV State Advocacy Meeting November 7-8, 2025. Bonita, FL AAOMS Dental Implant Conference December 4-6, 2025, Chicago, IL *Of special note: Our first joint CALAOMS / WSOMS Anesthesia meeting is scheduled April 26-27, 2025, in San Jose. This will be our first Joint Society Meeting, which also will offer OBEAM simulation training. Offering OBEAM will hopefully give surgeons the opportunity to complete this requirement more locally without having to travel to Chicago. I would like to congratulate the leadership of CALAOMS and the WSOMS for their innovative forethought in developing this format and arranging this joint meeting. The goal of this meeting is to invite all Western District members and families to attend and rejuvenate the Western Society’s strong history of comradery. If successful, this could become an annual event with other state society meetings in locations of their choosing. Past WSOMS meetings were always a great way for members and their families to visit prime location in the western states. So, as you can see, 2025 will be an active year for the AAOMS and our specialty. I hope you can find the time to partake in at least some of these great opportunities for CE and networking.
